Great Clerkes Farm is a small family run farm in north-west rural Essex. The farm has been in the Hughes family for three generations and is now run by Simon Hughes, following on from his late father and grandfather. We farm 400 acres of arable land, as well as 1,000 free-range geese and 1,200 free-range chickens aimed at the Christmas market.

We have been rearing geese on the farm for over 25 years, which is invaluable knowledge in producing only the finest quality goose.

Because we take pride in our birds, and are a small family run business, you can be guaranteed a goose or chicken of only the finest quality.

It also has to be said that goose is England’s traditional Christmas dish, and tastes much better than turkey!
